BORN HULL 1890. ONLY CHILD OF THE LATE JOHN HOMAN AND FLORENCE JESSIE HOMAN, AT 7, INGRAMS PLACE, PORTER STREET, HULL; 71, SOUTH PARADE AND 6, ELLEN’S TERRACE, JACKSON STREET, HULL. A PAINT GRINDER. HE WAS EMPLOYED BY MESSRS SANDERSON’S PAINT WORKS, ROPERY STREET, HULL. HE WAS 5 FOOT, 4.5 INCHES TALL, 34-36 INCH CHEST, & 108 LBS WEIGHT.

HE MARRIED KATE ISLAND, AT ST JAMES CHURCH, HULL, ON 01/06/1914. THEY HAD TWO CHILDREN AND LIVED AT 6 ELLEN TERRACE, JACKSON STREET,AND 46, VAUXHALL GROVE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 16/11/1916. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 13/07/1916. POSTED TO THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE BATTALION, IN THE FIELD, ON 02/08/1916. KILLED IN ACTION AT ARRAS, ON 24/04/1917, AGED 27. HE HAD BEEN AT THE FRONT FOR TEN MONTHS.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, KATE. THEIR YOUNG SON, JOHN ROBERT HOMAN, DIED IN 1919, AGED 3.
