BORN HULL 1889.  ONLY CHILD OF ROBERT THOMAS HOTHAM (1855-1907) & ELEANOR MARTHA HOTHAM (1861-1912), OF 1 HARWOODS PLACE, ENGLISH STREET, HULL (1901 CENSUS) AND 5, OTTERBURN STREET, ANLABY ROAD, HULL. SON OF A RAILWAY CARTER. HE WORKED AS A LEATHING BELTING AND HOSE MAKER. (1911 CENSUS).

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 242539, EAST SURREY REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE LOYAL NORTH LANCS REGIMENT. KILLED AT PASCHENDAELE, ON 26/10/1917, AGED 28. COMMEMORATED ON THE TYNE COT MEMORIAL, BELGIUM.

UNMARRIED & BOTH PARENTS DECEASED, HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS TWO AUNTS, EDITH & LAURA EDSON. THEY WERE HIS MOTHER’S SISTERS, WHO HELPED RAISE HIM.
