BORN GRIMSBY 1886. WIFE ELIZABETH CAROLINE ABOVE ADDRESS FROM CWGC RECORDS AND THE 1918 ABSENT VOTERS REGISTER. HIS SHIP WAS SUNK BY ENEMY SUBMARINE ON 6TH AUGUST 1918. HE WAS LOST AT SEA, AGED 32 AND LEFT £218 IN HIS WILL TO HIS WIDOW. HIS NAME IS COMMEMORATED ON THE TOWER HILL MEMORIAL, LONDON.

In 1911 she was renamed BIRUTA SS when purchased by P. Danneberg.
