Jennison, Ernest

BORN HULL 1895. SON OF THOMAS CHRISTOPHER JENNISON (1864-1943) AND ELIZABETH ANDREW (1866-1933), OF HAWTHORNE AVENUE, HESSLE ROAD.

HE JOINED THE HULL PALS, ON 02/01/1915, AGED 19 YEARS, AND 180 DAYS. SERVED WITH THE 13TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT FOR 15 MONTHS, IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. HE MARRIED ADA M THOMPSON, AT HULL, IN 1915. THEY HAD A DAUGHTER, ELLEN, BORN ON 11/01/1916. HE WAS REPORTED MISSING AT THE BATTLE OF SERRE, AT THE SOMME. HE WAS LATER CONFIRMED AS KILLED ON THE 13TH NOVEMBER 1916. HE WAS 21 AND LEFT A WIDOW ADA M. JENNISON AT THIS ADDRESS. HE WAS SHORTLY DUE FOR HOME LEAVE.

HE LEFT SIX BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS, WHO ALL LIVED IN THE HESSLE ROAD AREA. THREE OF HIS BROTHERS ALSO SERVED IN THE WAR.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 5TH DECEMBER 1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH.*
