BORN POCKLINGTON 1897. SON OF JOHN THOMAS JOHNSON & ELIZA ANN JOHNSON, OF 5 RISEHOLME AVENUE, WHEELER STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE LIVED IN HULL. EDUCATED AT HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL. HE WAS A HULL SCHOOL TEACHER.

ENLISTED HULL. [POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 20/09/1915. SERVED AS A GUNNER, IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 04/11/1916, AGED 19.

HIS NAME IS INSCRIBED ON THE KIRKELLA WAR MEMORIAL AT ST ANDREWS’ CHURCH AND THE HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL MEMORIAL.

UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO BOTH PARENTS. HE LEFT A YOUNGER BROTHER ERNEST JOHNSON.
