BORN HULL 1895. SON OF GEORGE HENRY JUMPS (1865-1936) & ELIZA SPENCER (1865-1956), OF 64 PROVIDENCE ROW, HULL. SON OF A BREWER’S DRAYMAN. HE HAD SIX BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. HE WAS EMPLOYED AS A FARM LABOURER IN BEVERLEY. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS A HORSE DRIVER IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY, AMMUNITION COLUMN. HE DIED OF MENINGITIS, IN MALTA, ON 25/09/1915, AGED 20.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, OM 11/10/1915.

HIS NAME WAS RECORDED ON HULL’S PROVIDENCE ROW STREET MEMORIAL & THE CLIFTON STREET SCHOOL MEMORIAL. HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE BILTOM GANSTEAD AND WYTON WW1 MEMORIAL, ST PETER’S CHURCH, BILTON.

HIS BROTHER, ISSAC SERVED IN THE ARMY SERVICE CORPS, AND SURVIVED THE WAR.
