BORN WATTON, EAST YORKSHIRE, 1885. SON OF WILLIAM PARKER KIRBY AND KATE KIRBY, OF FIMBER, MALTON, NORTH YORKSHIRE. WORKED AS A GROOM AT WATTON (1901). HE LIVED AT LINLEY HALL, BRANDSBURTON.

ENLISTED 1909. JOINED AS PRIVATE, 1288 EAST RIDING YEOMANRY. TRANSFERRED AS CORPORAL,  TO THE 1/4TH KING’S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY. PROMOTED TO LANCE SERGEANT. DIED OF SERIOUS CHEST WOUNDS, ON 26/03/1917, AGED 31. HE IS BURIED AT MERVILLE COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION, NORD, FRANCE

REPORTED AS DIED OF WOUNDS IN THE HDM 24/04/1917. HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE LEVEN ROLL OF HONOUR, EAST YORKSHIRE.
