BORN NEWPORT, ON 03/06/1888. HUSBAND OF MARY JANE LONGHORN, OF 1 KINGSTON AVENUE, LIVERPOOL STREET, HULL LOST ON THE S/S “SPEETON”. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 13/01/1916. * HE LEFT A WIDOW AND THREE CHILDREN.

HMT Speeton, built by Cochrane & Sons Ltd., Selby in 1913 and operated at the time of her loss by Royal Navy, was a British navy trawler of 205 tons. On December 31st, 1915, HMT Speeton was sunk by a mine from the German submarine UC-7 (Georg Haag), off Lowestoft. 11 persons were lost.
