BORN BISHOPTHORP, YORK 1880. SON OF THOMAS AND ALICE MACKERETH. HIS WIFE EMILY MACKERETH AND SEVEN CHILDREN LIVED AT 357 , HAWTHORNE AVENUE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). THEY HAD FOUR CHILDREN. HE WORKED AS A LOCOMOTIVE FITTER FOR NORTH EASTERN RAILWAYS.

HE ENLISTED, HULL. SERVED AS SERGEANT, 125070, ROYAL ENGINEERS RAILWAY DIVISION. HE DIED OF PNEUMONIA, ON 10/02/1919, AGED 39. HE IS BURIED AT HULL WESTERN CEMETERY, GRAVE REF: 543. 52397.

HIS BROTHER, LANCE CORPORAL, A. MACKERETH, SERVED WITH THE AUSTRALIANS AND WAS AWARDED THE MILITARY MEDAL (MM). (HDM 21/09/1918)
