Mason, Joseph William

Only son of Joseph and Esther Mason, of Northend, Keadby, Doncaster. He worked for Messrs, Lambert’s, Grocers at Whitrfriargate, Hull. He livedwith his Aunt, at 10 Rodney Street, Hull. enlisted in the Hull Pals and died of wounds and shock, on the first day of the battle of the Somme, aged 24. His death was reported in the Hull Daily Mail, with his photograph, 27/07/1916

His Grave reads, “HE LIVED A NOBLE LIFE HIS SACRIFICE WAS GREAT PEACE PERFECT PEACE”
