BORN SWINESHEAD, LINCOLNSHIRE 1886. JOINED THE LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT IN 1904. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 8 INCHES TALL, 127 LBS WEIGHT, 35 INCH CHEST, BLUE EYES, LIGHT BROWN HAIR, TEETH MISSING. CONTINUED IN THE ARMY RESERVE.

HE MARRIED IN HULL 14/12/1913. HIS WIFE, MARY ELLINOR SWAINGER, LIVED AT 1, HODGE STREET, DRYPOOL, HULL, 10, BEAUMONT TERRACE, PELHAM STREET, HULL AND 5, HUGGARDS YARD, SALTHOUSE LANE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESSES).

MOBILIZED AT THE OUTBREAK OF WAR. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED IN FRANCE, MUNITIONS WORK. TRANSFERRED TO THE COLDSTREAM GUARDS. HE DIED IN LONDON, ON 07/07/1918, AGED 32.
HE IS BURIED AT BROMPTON CEMETERY, KING GEORGE’S HOSPITAL, STAMFORD BRIDGE, NEXT TO CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB.

HIS WIDOW MARY, WAS REFUSED A WAR PENSION DUE TO HER “MISCONDUCT”.
