MARRIED AT ST MARY’S, SCULCOATES, HULL, ON 26/12/1914. HUSBAND OF MARY JANE (JENNY) FORSEY (1889-1963), OF 16, NORTHUMBERLAND VILLAS, FOUNTAIN ROAD, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). THEY HAD ONE SON, LEONARD, BORN ON 13/08/1915.

ENLISTED AT HULL, ON 24/06/1916. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 04/01/1917. SERVED WITH THE ROYAL ENGINEERS. HE WAS DESCRIBED AS AN EFFICIENT, EXCEMPLARY NCO. DIED OF SELF INFLICTED INJURIES, WHILE INSANE, ON 31/03/1919, AGED 29. HE HUNG HIMSELF IN FULL UNIFORM FROM A WASH HOSUE PIPE, AT MARDYCK CAMP. HE HAD BECOME DEPRESSED ABOUT DELAYS IN HIS DEMOBILISATION AND WANTED TO RETURN HOME. HE IS BURIED AT DUNKIRK, FRANCE.
