BORN HULL 1886. HUSBAND OF EMILY JANE PETTMAN, OF 11 BURLEIGH GROVE, HAWTHORNE AVENUE, HULL,. SERVED AS 2258, HMS ‘ACTEON’ & LIVED AT 75 WELLSTEAD STREET. (1918 VOTERS ADDRESS). HE HAD BEEN AT SEA SINCE THE AGE OF 17 AND WORKED THE WHOLE TIME WITH THE HULL STEAM FISHING AND ICE COMPANY. DURING THE WAR, HE SERVED FOUR YEARS ON MINESWEEPERS, WITHOUT INJURY. HE WAS LOST ON THE ILL FATED TRAWLER, “BARBADOS”, WHICH WAS MINED WHILE FISHING. HE LEFT PARENTS, WIDOW AND A ADOPTED DAUGHTER.

FV Barbados (H938) was a British registered fishing vessel of 183grt built in 1907 by Earles Shipbuilders, Hull. Presumed mined on 6th November 1920. All hands lost.
