BORN HULL 17/09/1887. SON OF ROBERT HARRIS PHILIP (1851-1912) & JANE ELIZABETH BELT (1860-1935). SON OF AN OIL MERCHANT. HE HAD FIVE BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER. HE WAS EDUCATED AT HULL GRAMMER SCHOOL. WORKED AS A MERCHANT CLERK. RESIDED IN HORNSEA.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. COMMISSIONED AS CAPTAIN, WITH THE 11TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DIED IN ACTION, ON 27/03/1918, AGED 30.

LISTED ON THE HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL MEMORIAL.

HE LEFT, £1,211 IN HIS WILL TO HIS BROTHERS, MAURICE AND ERIC WHO WERE BOTH OIL MERCHANTS. HIS BROTHER, ALAN, LIVED 7, BANK TERRACE, HORNSEA, YORK.

HIS BROTHER, MAURICE SERVED WITH THE EAST RIDING YEOMANRY. HIS SON WAS KILLED DURING WW2.
