Arthur Pinchbeck

Born Hull, 20/06/1896. Son of George Pinchbeck (1870-1935) and Eliza Alice Strawson (1873-1942), of Connor Creek, Alberta. He had three brothers and two sisters. Worked as a Waggoner on the farms of Lincolnshire, before emigrating to Canada, on 12/04/1912. Employed as a farmer. Described as 5 foot, 11 inches tall, 37-40 inch chest, blue eyes, dark hair and Methodist Religion. He enlisted at Edmonton, Canada, on 30/06/1915. Served with the 10th Canadian Infantry (Alberta Regiment).

Killed at the Battle of Thiepval Ridge, West of Courcelette, France, on 26/09/1916, aged 20. Commemorated on the Vimy Memorial.
