BORN HULL 1896. SON OF WILLIAM ROBERT & MARY A PLATT, OF 13 YORK TERRACE, BARNSLEY STREET, HULL AND HESSLE, YORKS. EMPLOYED BY MR TEANBY, TOBACCONIST, MARKET HALL, HULL. ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WAS AT THE FRONT FOR 17 MONTHS BEFORE BEING WOUNDED ON THE SOMME IN SEPTEMBER 1916. INVALIDED TO LIVERPOOL HOSPITAL. RETURNED TO DUTIES. HE WAS KILLED 05/11/1916, AGED 22.

HIS PHOTOGRAPH WAS PUBLISHED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 29/09/1916.

HIS BROTHER PERCY PLATT ALSO DIED IN THE WAR. HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE HESSLE ROLL OF HONOUR, ALL SAINTS PARISH CHURCH.
