Priestman, Charlie

Born Warter, Yorkshire, 1898. Son of Henry Priestman (1856-1927) and Ann Leppington (1857-1924), of 1, Coburg Terrace, Holme Church Lane, Beverley. He had three brothers and five sisters. Worked as a Horseman in Bishop Burton.

Enlisted at Beverley, on 06/06/1916. Served with the 1st Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Posted to France, on 12/06/1917. Gassed on 21/07/1917. Returned to England with bullet wound in thigh, on 25/11/1917. Discharged with Tuberculosis, on 17/04/1918. He refused treatment at Sanitorium.

Died of Tuberculosis, on 03/11/1918, aged 20. Buried at St Nicholas Churchyard, Beverley.
