BORN HULL 1888. SON OF WILLIAM & MARY JANE PROCTOR, OF 3, RIBBLE AVENUE, RIBBLE STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). BROTHER TO FRED AND ALICE.

HE MARRIED ALICE GRIMSTEN, ON 15/04/1916, AT HULL’S HOLY TRINITY CHURCH. HIS WIFE MRS ALICE PROCTOR, LIVED AT 192 BEAN STREET, HULL (HULL DAILY MAIL ADDRESS). PRIOR TO THE WAR HE WORKED FOR BULMAN & CO, HUMBER STREET, AS A FRUIT MARKET CLERK.

HE ENLISTED ON 13/12/1915, AGED 27 YEARS, AND 10 MONTHS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 3.5 INCHES TALL, 33 INCH CHEST, & 120 LBS WEIGHT. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 05/05/1916 WITH THE KING’S ROYAL RIFLE CORPS. HE WAS INVALIDED HOME AND DIED OF A HEPATIC ABSCESS, AT WHARNCLIFFE MILITARY HOSPITAL, SHEFFIELD. HIS BODY WAS TRANSPORTED BACK TO HULL FOR BURIAL.

HIS DEATH ON 10/07/1916, AGED 28, WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 19TH JULY 1916 WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *

HE IS RECORDED AS “DIED IN HOSPTAL”, ON THE RIBBLE STREET, ROLL OF HONOUR, WITH WITH HIS FRED PROCTOR, 11TH EYR, KILLED IN ACTION, ON 17/08/1916, AGED 27 (Hull Daily Mail 22 September 1916)

BOTH BROTHERS ARE COMMEMORATED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL AT ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, NEWINGTON, HULL.
