BORN HULL 21/01/1899. SON OF JOHN MUSE PROUD (1874-1927) & MARGARET VARLEY (1876-1960), of 9, HOLDERNESS VILLAS, RHODES STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). ONE OF ELEVEN CHILDREN.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 2825, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE MACHINE GUN CORPS. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 18/10/1918, AGED 19.

LISTED ON HULL GARDENER SOCIETY ROH – HOLY TRINITY CHURCH. HE IS BURIED AT ST. AUBERT BRITISH CEMETERY, NORD, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE READS, “THOUGH DEATH DIVIDES SWEET MEMORY CLINGS”.
