Lieut., Colonel, Frederick William Robson, DSO

Lieutenant Colonel, Frederick William Robson D.S.O. Distinguished Service Order.

Home at Pembroke Lodge, Pocklington. Son of the late Thomas and Eva Robson, of Pembroke Lodge, Pocklington, York.

A solicitor, he joined the 5th Yorkshiore Regiment and fought with them from their arrival in France in 1915. On promotion to Lt Col, he was given command of the 6th Btn Durham Light Infantry from April 5th 1917. Killed in action on 28th March 1918 aged 30.

He was the brother of Captain,  Edward Moore Robson, also of the 5th Yorkshire Regiment, who was killed a few days later on 11th April 1917, fighting on the River Lys.

Both brothers are commemorated at the Pozieres Memorial, to the missing on the Somme.

Their brother, John Robson also served in the 5th Yorkshire regiment and was wounded at Arras, on 27/02/1917.
