BORN BEVERLEY 1897. SON OF WILLIAM & BETSY SCOFFIN – 37 HIGH GATE, BEVERLEY. HE ENLISTED AT BEVERLEY. ONE OF SEVEN CHILDRE. AN ERRAND BOY. HE ENLISTED AT BEVERLEY. EX, PRIVATE, 2458 YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE 1/4TH KING’S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY. PROMOTED CORPORAL. DIED OF WOUNDS, AT 1ST FIELD AMBULANCE, HOSPITAL, BELGIUM, ON 23/03/1918, AGED 21. HE IS BURIED AT MENIN ROAD SOUTH MILITARY CEMETERY, BELGIUM. A SINGLE MAN. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, WILLIAM.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 08/04/1918.

HIS BROTHER FRANK ALSO SERVED AND WAS SUFFERING FROM SHELL SHOCK.
