BORN HULL 1898. SON OF JOSEPH SEDGWICK (1868-1940) & THE LATE MARGARET JONES (1857-1918), OF 10, GROSVENOR TERRACE, GROSVENOR STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SISTERS MABEL & HILDA. BROTHER ARTHUR. SON OF A POULTRY DRESSER. HE WORKED AS A RULLEYMAN. UNMARRIED.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 19/10/1915, AGED 18. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 6 INCHES TALL, 104 LBS WEIGHT, 33.5 INCH CHEST. HE TRAINED AT ALDERSHOT’S, TWEGLEDOWN CAMP, THE HOME OF THE ROYAL ARMY MEDICAL CORPS. HE WAS DISCHARGED WITH TUBERCULOSIS, ON 23/07/1916, AFTER 279 DAYS ARMY SERVICE. HE DIED IN HULL, ON 09/02/1917, AGED 20.

BURIED AT HULL’S HEDON ROAD CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “EVER IN THOUGHT”.

HIS ONLY BROTHER, PRIVATE, ARTHUR SEDGWICK, 2285, 4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, WAS KILLED AT YPRES, ON 22/02/1916, AGED 22. HIS MOTHER, DIED ON 24/11/1918.
