BORN HULL 1894. SON OF GEORGE EDWARD SNOW & MINNIE BEALES, OF 2 WILLIAM TERRACE, ALEXANDRA STREET, HULL. ONE OF SIX CHILDREN. GEORGE WORKED AS ‘CHAIN BOY’. HE MARRIED FANNY STATHERS, AT ST JUDES’ CURCH, HULL, IN JANUARY 1914. HIS WIFE LIVED AT 49 WEST PARADE, SPRING BANK, HULL. GEORGE ENLISTED IN BEVERLEY. HE WAS WOUNDED (LEFT HIP & RIGHT WRIST), AT THE AISNE, ON 20/09/1914. HE LAID IN A FOOT OF WATER AND MUD FOR EIGHTEEN HOURS BEFORE HE WAS PICKED UP. HE RETURNED TO DUTY LATER IN 1914. HE DIED OF WOUNDS AT YPRES ON 11/04/1915, AGED 21. HE WAS PHOTOGRAPHED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 13/10/1914. HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 19TH MAY 1915. *

HIS ELDER BROTHER, PRIVATE, JOSEPH SNOW, 2ND EYR, WAS KILLED IN ACTION TWO WEEKS LATER, ON 23/04/1915, AGED 26. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES, ON 29TH MAY 1915, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
GEORGE LEFT A SON, GEORGE AISNE SNOW. HIS WIDOW FANNY LATER MARRIED GEORGE’S FRIEND, JOHN WILLIAM BAYSTON.
