Private, Fred Snowden, 13th EYR, killed at Serre, on 13/11/1916, aged 22. He lived at 22 Winnie’s Place, St Luke Street, Hull.

BORN HULL 1894. SON OF FRED SNOWDEN (1857-1901) AND ADA HARMON (1853-1928), OF 3, CONSTABLE BUILDINGS, ENGLISH STREET (1911 CENSUS), 13, WILLIAM PLACE, ST JAMES STREET, HULL AND 45, WALKER STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER. HE WORKED AS A PLATER’S MATE (RIVETT HEATER). RESIDED AT 13, WINNIE’S PLACE, ST JAMES STREET, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS).

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 19/05/1916. SERVED WITH THE 13TH EAST YORKSHIRE (HULL PALS). KILLED IN ACTION, AT SERRE, ON 13/11/1916, AGED 22. BURIED AT EUSTON ROAD CEMETERY FRANCE.

HIS ELDER BROTHER, HERBERT SNOWDEN, SERVED WITH THE 6TH EYR, AND WAS KILLED AT GALLIPOLI, ON 22/08/1915, AGED 22. BOTH ARE LISTED ON HULL’S WALKER STREET WW1 MEMORIAL. BOTH WAR PENSIONS WENT TO THEIR MOTHER, ADA, AT 45 WALKER STREET, HULL.
