BORN HULL 1896. SON OF GEORGE WALTER AND ELIZABETH TETHER, OF 5 GLADY’S TERRACE, WALCOTT STREET, HULL, AND ST ANDREWS, FERRIBY ROAD, HESSLE. HE WAS A SINGLE MAN. HE ALSO LIVED AT “ROSEWAY”, HULL ROAD, COTTINGHAM (CWGC ADDRESS).

HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS, ON 07/09/1914. SERVED IN EGYPT WITH THE 10TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. ARRIVED FRANCE 08/03/1916. AWARDED A GOOD CONDUCT BADGE, ON 21/10/1916. KILLED IN ACTION, AT SERRE, ON 13/11/1916, AGED 21. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, SOMME, FRANCE

HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE HESSLE ROLL OF HONOUR, ALL SAINTS PARISH CHURCH.

HE WAS MOURNED BY HIS PARENTS, SISTERS AND BROTHER, IN THE HDM, ON 04/12/1916.
