Thompson, Stanley.

Born Hull 1885. Son of the late Henry Thompson (Surgeon) and of Alice Eveline Quain (formerly Thompson), of “Sideways,” Waddesdon, Aylesbury, Bucks. Native of Hull, Yorks. He studied at the University pf London. Served as Captain, in the 15th Hampshire Regiment (2nd Portsmouth Battalion). He was wounded attacking Flers, Somme. He died of wounds, on 15/09/1916, aged 31. He left £169 in his will to his widowed mother, who moved to 21 Colville Terrace, Bayswater, Middlesex. She later remarried.

He is buried at DARTMOOR CEMETERY, BECORDEL-BECOURT, SOMME, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “BY THINE AGONY & BLOODY SWEAT BY THY CROSS & PASSION R.I.P.”
