Tuke, Alfred

Born Hull, 1893. Son of William Alfred Tuke (1850–1922) and Hannah Maria Hatfield (1855–1926), of 294, South Boulevard, Hull. He had two brothers, William and George and a sister, Florence, who also lived in the Boulevard area.

He worked as a Clerical Secretary. Described as 5 foot, 9 inches tall, 34-36 inch chest, 130 lbs weight and “Fair” physical development.

He enlisted on 10th December 1915. Called up for service, on 21st March 1916. Posted to France, on 23rd July 1916. He served with the 1st East Yorkshire Regiment. Killed in action, on 09/04/1917, aged 24. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.

He left £330 in his will to his father, William, a retired shipwright.
