HE REPORTED IN HIS ARMY RECORDS THAT HIS PARENTS WERE UNKNOWN AND HE HAD NO BROTHERS OR SISTERS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 4 INCHES TALL, 123 LBS WEIGHT, 34 INCH CHEST SIZE. HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 12/01/1915. TRAINED AT POCKLINGTON AND RIPON. SERVED WITH THE HULL PALS IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 29/02/1916. WOUNDED 24/08/1916. AND 01/03/1917. RETURNED TO DUTY. PROMOTED CORPORAL, ON 26/03/1917. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 29/11/1917, AGED 28. BURIED IN FRANCE.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, WHO LATER MOVED TO 16 CORNWALL GARDENS, WHEELER STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SHE WAS AWARDED A WEEKLY PENSION, OF 39 SHILLINGS AND NINE PENCE
