BORN HULL 1898. DRAPER. SON OF GEORGE & ANNIE ELIZABETHWARD, OF 6, EMERALD TERRACE, CAMPBELL STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). EMPLOYED AS A DRAPER, AT SMITH FENT STORES, HESSLE ROAD.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY SERVED AS PRIVATE, 316196, NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. TRANSFERRED TO THE 8TH (QUEEN’S OWN) ROYAL WEST KENT REGIMENT. HE WAS KILLED DURING THE GERMAN SPRING OFFENSIVE, ON 21/03/1918, AGED 21. HIS WAR PENSION WENT TO HIS MOTHER, ANNIE ELIZABETH WARD, AT THIS PENSION LEDGER ADDRESS.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE POZIERES MEMORIAL, SOMME, FRANCE. HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 18TH JULY 1919. *
