White, Leonard

PRIVATE LEONARD WHITE 12/129. Born Hull in 1880, Leonard was the youngest of seven children to Leonard and Martha White of 1 Isaacs Terrace, Hull. A Labourer by trade he lived with his wife, Mary Jane, and son, Leonard Jnr, at 8 Hessle Place, Porter Street, Hull. He enlisted at City Hall in September 1914 joining the 12th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment, ‘The Sportsmen’, 3rd Hull Pals. Leonard was killed in action on 27th May 1916 and buried in Sucrerie Military Cemetery; he was 36 years old.
