BORN HULL 14/11/1888. TRAWLER ENGINEER. SERVED WITH THE ROYAL NAVAL RESERVE. LOST AT SEA, ON NEW YEARS EVE, 1915, AGED 26.

HIS WIFE MINNIE LIVED AT 91, CUMBERLAND STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS) AND 9, JOHN STREET, KINGSTON SQUARE, HULL. HIS PARENTS LIVED 117 WOODCOCK STREET, HULL.

HE IS ALSO LISTED AS KILLED, ON HULL’S ENGLISH STREET ROLL OF HONOUR (Hull Daily Mail 23 September 1916).
HMT Speeton, built by Cochrane & Sons Ltd., Selby in 1913 and operated at the time of her loss by Royal Navy, was a British navy trawler of 205 tons. On December 31st, 1915, HMT Speeton was sunk by a mine from the German submarine UC-7 (Georg Haag), off Lowestoft. 11 persons were lost.
