HE ENLISTED IN HULL, JOINING THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY, ON 05/12/1912. HE LEFT WITH THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE WHEN WAR BEGAN. POSTED TO FRANCE ON 19/08/1914. HE WAS WOUNDED IN THE RIGHT ARM AT THE BATTLE OF MARNE, ON 20/9/1914. HE DIED OF COMPLICATIONS AND DELAYED TREATMENT, AT NO:10 GENERAL HOSPITAL, ROUEN AT 2.15 PM ON 01/10/1914. HE HAD SERVED ONLY 12 MONTHS.
