SS Montebello, built by Earle’s Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd., Hull in 1911 and owned at the time of her loss by Ellerman’s Wilson Line, Ltd., Hull, was a British steamer of 4324 tons.
On June 21st, 1918, Montebello, on a voyage from London to Hampton Roads, was sunk by the German submarine U-100 (Degenhart von Loë), 320 miles W1/2N from Ushant (Ouessant). 41 persons were lost, including the Master.
