Wilson, Fred

2nd, Lieut, Fred Wilson, 10th Royal Warwicks

Born Hull 1892. Second son of Tom and Agnes Wilson, of Ellerby, Yorkshire, and late of 59 St Georges Road, Hull. Husband of Winifred May Wilson, who lived 100, Wills Street, Lozells, Birmingham. Served as a Second Lieutenant, in the 10th Royal Warwickshire regiment. He died of influenza, on 13/11/1918, aged 27.

Before the war he was a costs clerk for the Hull Radiator company. In May 1915, he went to work for Vickers in Birmingham, as Clerk to the Head accountant. In 1916 he was wounded twice and returned to England in December 1917, to train for his commission. He became an Officer for the Royal Warwicks in June 1918, going back to France in August 1918. He was a prominent member of the Hull Shakespeare and Playgoers Society. His death was reported in the Hull Daily Mail on the 20th November 1918.
