Levitt and Lloyd

THREE LEVITT BROTHERS. SONS OF HENRY & BETSY LEVITT, OF BURSTWICK AND 59 LEE STREET,HULL. PTE, ATHUR LEVITT, ENLISTED BEVERLEY, JOINING THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 29/10/1914, AGED 20, AT NO: 8 FIELD HOSPITAL, ERQUINGHEM.

 

HIS OLDER BROTHER, GUNNER, WILLIAM LEVITT, RGA, WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON  21/03/1918, AGED 27 YRS, & PRIVATE, ALFRED LEVITT, 2ND YORK & LANCS, DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 15/01/1918, AGED 24 YRS. THE BROTHERS WERE PHOTOGRAPHED IN THE HULL TIMES, ON THE 05/12/1914. ANOTHER BROTHER, HAROLD HEATON LEVITT, HAD BEEN KILLED AT THE STORRY SMITHSON COMPANY, IN OCTOBER 1913, AGED 16.

 

 

THREE LLOYD BROTHERS: Arthur and Elizabeth Lloyd of 11 Storey Buildings, Spring Street, lost their three sons due to the war. Their eldest son Arthur LLoyd, was a Sergeant with the 2nd East Yorkshires, and died in Greece on 26th March 1917. Less than a month later their youngest son, George Lloyd, a Company Sergeant Major, with the 1/4th East Yorkshires, was killed at Arras, on the 23rd April 1917. Their third son Charles Lloyd. died in Bagdad after the war, aged 35.
