BORN HULL, 6TH JUNE, 1888. SON OF THOMAS HENRY COLLEY & KATE JOY, AT 11 , FRANCIS STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). THIRD OF FOUR CHILDREN. BROTHERS THOMAS AND WILLIAM AND OLDER SISTER ANNE COLLEY. HIS MOTHER DIED IN 1902. HE WORKED AS A PLUMMER WITH MR W L HARRISON, GEORGE STREET, HULL.

HE EMIGRATED TO CANADA ON 20/10/1911. EMPLOYED BY THE CANADIAN PACIFIC RAILWAY.

HE ENLISTED IN CANADA ON 12/05/1915, AGED 26 YEARS AND 11 MONTHS. HIS MEDICAL RECORDS DESCRIBE HIM AS 5 FOOT 9 INCHES TALL, 35 INCH CHEST, BLUE EYES AND FAIR HAIR.

HE SERVED AS PRIVATE, 439138, 52ND (MANITOBA) REGIMENT, IN THE CANADIAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. HE WAS KILLED AT YPRES, ON 9/06/1916, AGED 28. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON YPRES, THE MENIN GATE MEMORIAL, BELGIUM.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES, ON 22/07/1916.
