BORN HULL 1893. SECOND SON OF CHARLES DEAKIN (1869-19520 & ALICE EMILY DEAKIN (1873-1946), OF 3 CHURCH TERRACE, ST PAULS STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON OF AN ENGINEER MACHINIST. SECOND OF TEN CHILDREN.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, SERVED WITH THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 17/04/1915. HE WAS KILLED IN A HAND GRENADE ACCIDENT IN THE TRENCH, ON 29/06/1915, AGED 26.
HE WAS A MUCH LOVED FRIEND. HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH APPEAR IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL 7TH JULY 1915. *
HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON HULL’S LOCKWOOD STREET MEMORIAL.
HE IS BURIED AT WULVERGHEM-LINDENHOEK ROAD MILITARY CEMETERY, BELGIUM
