BORN HULL 02/08/1881. ELDEST SON OF HARRY GREEN & LUCY TONGE, OF 68 PARK STREET, GRIMSBY. HE WAS EDUCATED AT HULL.
MARRIED AT THE WESLEYAN CHURCH, CLEETHORPES, ON 22/02/19106. HIS WIFE LOUISA JAMES, LIVED AT 6 CROSS STREET, CLEETHORPES. HE WAS EMPLOYED BY THE CLEETHORPES GAS COMPANY. HE ENLISTED IN AUGUST 1916. SERVED IN FRANCE, FROM DECEMBER 1916. WOUNDED ON THE SOMME, IN JANUARY 1917. ON RECOVERY, RETURNED TO FRANCE IN APRIL 1917. BECAME ATTACHED TO THE 59TH MACHINE GUN CORPS. WOUNDED AGAIN AND INVALIDED TO ENGLAND. HE DIED OF WOUNDS ON THE AMBULANCE TRAIN TO YORK, ON 22/08/1917, AGED 37. HE LEFT A WIDOW AND SON LEONARD GREEN, BORN ON 12/05/1908.
HIS DEATH WAS RECORDED IN THE DE RUVIGNY ROLL OF HONOUR, VOLUME 4, page 70, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
