BORN HULL 1886. ONLY SON OF CHARLES (1855-1936) & MARY HOWSON (1853-1940), OF 6, IRENE AVENUE, DURHAM STREET, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS) AND 6, WINSHIP BUILDINGS, STANIFORTH PLACE, HESSLE ROAD, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE HAD FIVE SISTERS.

A FORMER SHIP CARPENTER. HE LIVED IN HULL, WITH HIS UNOFFICIAL WIFE, EDITH KATE JONES (1879-), FOR SIX YEARS, LIVED AT 3 BUCKINGHAM TERRACE, ADELAIDE STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS) AND 8, FAITH TERRACE, WALKER STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HE ENLISTED IN BEVERLEY, ON 20/10/1916. JOINED THE EAST RIDING ENGINEERS. TRANSFERRED TO THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, ON 12/02/1917. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 03/01/1918, AGED 32. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, CHARLES.

HE IS BURIED AT RUYAULCOURT MILITARY CEMETERY, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE.

HIS BROTHER TOM AND JAMES HOWSON ALSO SERVED.
