BORN HULL 1892. SON OF ARTHUR LEDGER AND ADELAIDE KAUFMAN (1869-1940), OF 16 MANCHESTER STREET, HULL. ONE OF TWELVE CHILDREN, SIX OF WHICH DIED AS TEENAGERS. HE WORKED AS A SMITH STRIKER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 7 INCHES TALL, 38-40 INCH CHEST, SCAR ON RIGHT PALM AND LEFT ARM.
HE MARRIED AT SCULCOATES REGISTRY OFFICE, ON 04/02/1915. HIS WIFE FANNY ELIZABETH (SNELL) LIVED AT 44, EASTBOURNE STREET, HULL, 43, HARROW STREET AND 9, PAUL TERRACE, WASSAND STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). THEIR SON FREDERICK ARTHUR JAMES LEDGER WAS BORN ON 13/03/1915.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 23/11/1914. SERVED AS A GUNNER, IN THE HULL HEAVY BATTERY, ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 28/04/1916. DISCHARGED FROM THE ARMY ON 27/04/1918, WITH TUBERCULOSIS. DIED AT BRADFORD MILITARY HOSPITAL, ON 01//11/1919, AGED 27. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR THREE YEARS AND 156 DAYS. BURIED HULL WESTERN CEMETERY.
