CPL, FREDERICK RICHARDSON MARLOW 12/391. Born in April 1882, Frederick was the eldest surviving child of Frederick Marlow and Annie Winduss (1860-1932). His elder sister Florence had died before reaching her first birthday. A Wood Sawyer by trade he married Beatrice Green (1883-1960), at St. Barnabas in Hull. on 31st January 1909 and the couple lived at 12 Walworth Terrace, Strickland Street, Hessle Road with their two children, Doris and Frederick Jnr.
When war came he enlisted at City Hall joining the 12th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment, ‘The Sportsmen’, 3rd Hull Pals. One of the Originals he served in Egypt before landing in France early in March 1916 and entering the trenches of the Western Front. Frederick was killed in action on 24th October 1916 and buried in Hebuterne Military Cemetery; he was 34 years old.
His army effects were left to his widow Beatrice, at 6 Goulton Street, Hull (War Pension address). She had four children by this time, with Henry, born 18/07/1912 and Wilfred, born 23/04/1916. His widow later re-married and became Beatrice White.
