Hull Teachers ww1 Memorial, Guildhall, Hull. Included the names of 27 Hull teachers lost in WW1. Two further names were added.

BORN DERBY 1891. SON OF GEORGE READER, OF 78 BENNETT STREET, LONG ETON, DERBYSHIRE (CWGC ADDRESS). A HULL TEACHER.

HE ENLISTED AT BRISTOL. SERVED IN THE 3RD EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DIED OF WOUNDS, AT HULL’S ROYAL NAVAL HOSPITAL, ON 18/10/1915, AGED 23. BURIED HULL WESTERN CEMETERY.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES, ON 23/10/1915. HIS ADDRESS WAS GIVEN AS ARGYLE STREET, HULL.

HIS WAR PENSION WAS CLAIMED BY ETHEL READER, AT 6, LTTLE GEORGE STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

NOTE: HIS SURNAME IS SPELT AS REEDER ON THE HULL TEACHER’S WW1 MEMORIAL.
HIS BROTHER SERVED IN THE ROYAL FUSILIERS AND WAS WOUNDED AT LE CATEAU, IN 1914.
