HE MARRIED AT HOLY TRINITY,HULL, ON 21/06/1899, AGED 18. HIS WIFE WAS POLLY SAXBY  (1880-1952). THEY LIVED AT 8, AINSLEY TERRACE, SPYVEE STREET, HULL, (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). THEIR SIX CHILDREN WERE, WILLIAM, ALBERT, THOMAS, ALICE, POLLY, AND ?.

EMPLOYED AS A LABOURER. HIS ARMY RECORDS DESCRIBE HIM AS 5 FOOT, 7 INCHES TALL, 152 LBS WEIGH, 35.5 INCH CHEST, “GOOD2  PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT. HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS ON 07/12/1914. ARRIVED IN EGYPT ON 29/12/1915. TRANSFERRED TO FRANCE ON 29/02/1916. KILLED IN ACTION AT SERRE, ON 13/11/1916, AGED 36.  HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.

HIS NAME IS LISTED ON ST MARYS CHURCH, LOWGATE WW1 MEMORIAL, HULL.

HIS WIFE, POLLY,  WAS AWARDED A WEEKLY PENSION OF 33 SHILLINGS AND 9 PENCE TO SUPPORT HER SIX CHILDREN. SHE LOST HER BROTHER, PRIVATE, THOMAS SAXNY, 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, AT ARRAS, ON 20/04/1917, AGED 32.
