Born Hull 1897. Son of Walter Richmond and Eva Wells, of Eastbourne Road, Hornsea, Yorkshire; husband of Florence May Jones (formerly Richmond), of 34, Henry Street, Scunthorpe, Lincs. One of six children. Son of a Butcher’s merchant. Educated at Hull Grammar School.
He enlisted at Hornsea, as Private, 790, East Yorkshire Regiment. He transferred as Private, 43129, 10th West Yorkshire Regiment. Killed at the Somme, on 07/11/1916, aged 19. He is commemorated at the Thiepval Memorial to the missing. He is commemorated on the Hornsea Drill Hall Memorial and the Hull Grammar School Memorial. His grandmother, Mrs Wells, lived at Exmouth Street, Hull and reported his death in the Hull Daily Mail, on 29/11/1916.
