Born Hull, 1898. Son on Fanny and Simon Dietch of 40, Upper Union Street, Hull (Army Address) and 80, Cogan Street, Hull (War Pension address). His parents were from a Russian Jewish family. His mother, Fanny was a widow and ran a Grocer shop with her brother, in law. He had three sisters, Edith Leah and Sarah and one brother, Isaac. He worked as a clerk. Described as 5 foot, 5 inches tall, 33-35 inch chest
He enlisted at Beverley, on 02/03/1916. Called up on 16/03/1917. Transferred as Private, 42692, 3rd South Staffordshire Regiment, on 24/03/1918. Captured, 09/04/1918. Repatriated on 02/12/1918. Discharged on 03/03/1919. Died of Tuberculosis, aggravated by war service, on 21/05/1921, aged 22. He is buried at the Hull Jewish Cemetery, Delhi Street, Hull. His war pension went to his unmarried maother, Fanny at 80, Cogan Street, Hull
