Born Longton, Staffordshire, 1899. Son of Martha Ann Elkin (1864- ) and the late William Elkin (1866-1921), of 4, Egerton Street, New Brighton, Cheshire (CWGC address) and 5, Lee Villas, Lee Street, Holderness Road, Hull (War Pension address). He had one brother, William and two sisters, Elsie and Joyce. He worked as an Errand Boy.
He enlisted at Longton, Staffs. Enlisted as Guardsman, Harold Elkin, 35214, Grenadier Guards. Died at home, on 18/04/1919, aged 19. He is buried at Longton, Stoke. His grave inscription, reads “At Rest”
His brother, William Elkin, enlisted at Longton, Staffs. Served in the 5th Grenadier Guards. He died of wounds, on 25/09/1916, aged 20. Buried at Longton, Stoke. His grave is inscribed “At Rest”.
