Chambers, Frank

Born Hull, 1895. Son of John Thomas Chambers (1863-1932) and Barbara Ann Chambers (1863-1950), of 6, Subway Street, Hessle Road, Hull. (Army address). Second of four sons He had one elder sister, Lilian. He worked as a Clerk in a Warehouse. Described as 5 foot, 11 inches tall, 37-39 inch chest, right eye normal, left eye defective, “Good” physical development.

Husband of Olive Chambers at 97, Linnaeus Street, Hull (War Pension address).

He enlisted in Hull, on 24/01/1915. Formerly, Private, 3358, 1/4th EYR. Posted to France, on 30/06/1915. Wounded on 15/01/1916 (gunshot wound to right arm). Transferred as Lance Corporal, 238390, 414th Agricultural Company, Labour Corps. 20% disabled. Awarded the Silver War Badge. Discharged from army on 15/03/1919, after 4 years and 56 days military service. Died at Hull, in 1924.

His younger brother, Charles Frederick Chambers (1899-1924), served as Private, 52214, EYR was wounded by gunshot in the face and died on 06/06/1924, aged 25.
