Born Bridlington, 1888. Only son of William Miles, of 3 Gardens Walk, Bridlington. His mother deceased. He had two sisters, May and Lisbeth.
Married at St Andrews, Scotland, on 22/11/1912. His wife Robina Muirhead Ainsley (1895-1983), lived at 151, Victoria Road, Dundee, Scotland (War Pension address). They had two children. Their daughter died of Influenza, on 16th March 1915.
A labourer, working in Hull when war began. He resided at 15 Clovelly Avenue, Nicholson Street, Hull (Army address).
He enlisted in Hull, on 12/01/1915. Trained at Patrington and Ripon. Served with the 13th East Yorkshire Regiment (4th Hull Pals). Killed at Serre, on 13/11/1916. Commemorated on the Thiepval memorial.
