He enlisted in Hull. Served as Sapper, 529th (East Riding) Field Coy., Royal Engineers. Died of wounds, on 18/06/1917, aged 20. Buried at Monchy, France.
His grave reads, IN LOVING MEMORY OF OUR DEAR SON ALWAYS REMEMBERED ALWAYS LOVED
