Middleton, Harry

Born Howdendyke, Yorkshire, 1899. Son of Brian Middleton (1862-1946) and Marie Drewery (1863-1914), of Howdendyke, Howden, Yorkshire. Son of a Furnace Man at the local Chemical Manure Works. One of six sons, three of which died in the war.

Harry Middleton enlisted in Hull. Served with the 7th East Yorkshire Regiment. Killed in action, on 20/10/1918, aged 18. His army effects were left to his father. Buried in France. His grave reads, NOT UNTIL THE DAY DAWNS

Private, Herbert Middleton, 22144, 1st East Yorkshire Regiment, enlisted in Beverley and was killed in action, on 09/04/1917, aged 22. Buried at Cojeul British Cemetery, France. His grave inscription also reads, NOT UNTIL THE DAY DAWNS

Private, Arthur Middleton, 291240, 23rd Battalion (Tyneside Scottish) Northumberland Fusiliers, enlisted in Howden and was killed in action, on 09/09/1917, aged 20. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
